Project 6 - Water Well for El Triunfo:

Goal: The Global Mission Team (GMT) hopes to work with Rotary Clubs International and have a water well drilled and a pumping system for the community known as El Triunfo, Peru. The goal is to have it operational sometime in 2008.

El Triunfo is a community located in the jungle about 30 miles south of Iquitos, Peru. The Lutheran Church in Peru has established a “Community of Faith” here through the work of former missionary Katharine Bergbusch. It’s an extremely poor area and people here live primitively in thatched-roof houses. Infant mortality and illness from water-born diseases are very high since they have no way to obtain clean drinking water. The water they use is from the river (over a half-mile away) and not fit for consumption. The only well they have is privately owned and heavily contaminated. For more information about this project email Jim Young.
